Panthers place four on All-ACC 1st team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Pitt running back James Conner, who inspired many with the way be battled cancer, was named to the the All-Atlantic Coast Conference first team Monday with three of his teammates. Joining him are offensive guard Dorian Johnson, defensive end Ejuan Price and return specialist Quadree Henderson.

The teams were determined by a vote of 48 members of the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association.

Conner, who was the ACC’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2014, has rushed for 1,060 yards this season and has 20 touchdowns. Henderson averages 31.1 yards per kickoff return and 17.9 yards per punt return. He’s returned four kicks for scores. Price has 12 sacks.

Offensive tackle Adam Bisnowaty and safety Jordan Whitehead were named to the second team and offensive tackle Brian O’Neill was named to the thrid team.

Atlantic Division champion Clemson placed seven players on the first team, including were receiver Mike Williams, tight end Jordan Leggett and three offensive linemen – but not quarterback Deshaun Watson, a second-team choice.

Louisville’s Lamar Jackson was the first-team quarterback. Dalvin Cook of Florida State joins Conner as the other first-team running back.

Coastal Division winner Virginia Tech had just one first-team selection, defensive tackle Woody Baron.

The No. 3 Clemson faces No. 19 Virginia Tech in the ACC title game Saturday night in Orlando, Fla.
