Girls soccer: Bentworth stays unbeaten; C-M blanks Lebo
Jocelyn Timlin scored three goals Wednesday and undefeated Bentworth kept on rolling with an 8-0 victory over host Bishop Canevin in Section 2-A.
The win improved Bentworth to 9-0 in the section and 12-0 overall. The Bearcats have outscored their opponents 56-2 over their last nine games.
Bea Kossel scored one goal and moved into eight place on Bentworth’s all-time scoring list with 35 career goals. Paige Marshalek tallied two goals, and Rori Schreiber and Danielle Gondak each had one. Gondak, a defender, played in her 29th career shutout.
• Canon-McMillan beat Mt. Lebanon, 2-0, in a Section 2-AAAA match.
Aideen O’Donoghue’s goal put the Big Macs (7-0-1, 11-0-1) in front 15 minutes in, and Sabrina Bryan doubled the lead in the 70th minute. Megan Virgin made 10 saves to shut out the Blue Devils (5-4-0, 5-6-1).
• Peters Township used two second-half goals to pull away from Bethel Park and defeat the Black Hawks 2-0 in Section 2-AAAA.
Bree Latsko broke the tie in the 54th minute and Hannah Stuck added the insurance goal nine minutes later for the Indians (5-2, 9-3-1). Goalkeeper Ava Falcione made six saves against the Black Hawks (2-5-1, 3-9-1).
• Rachel Weiss had a hat trick as South Fayette managed West Allegheny, 6-1, in a Section 4-AAA match. Madison Burnside, Autumn Heineman and Helina Van Bibber each added goals for the Lions (7-4-1, 8-5-1).
• Chartiers-Houston shut out Monessen 4-0 in Section 2-A.
Alyssa Daugherty scored two goals, and Erin James and Hannah Siege each had one for the Bucs (6-3, 7-6). Kasey Sears made four saves in net against the Greyhounds (1-8, 3-8).
• Non-section was no problem for Waynesburg, which handled Laurel Highlands, 3-0. Madison Claytonn had a foot in all three goals, assisting on Kaley Pell’s score and finishing two of her own. Jillian Kijowski and Bailey Fedala assisted on the Clayton goals. Emily McCarty had six saves for the Raiders (8-0, 12-1).
• Thomas Jefferson edged Trinity 2-0 in a Section 3-AAA match at Hiller Field. Trinity is 1-9 in the section and 2-9 overall. TJ is 5-5, 8-5.
