MAPLETOWN – Dylan Rush ran for 255 yards, became the fifth player from Greene County to rush for 4,000 career yards and scored the game-winning touchdown in overtime as Mapletown defeated Jefferson-Morgan 26-20 Friday night in the Tri-County South Conference.

Rush, who has 4,079 career yards, scored on Mapletown’s first play of overtime after Jefferson-Morgan (1-3, 1-6) turned the ball over on downs without scoring on its possession in the extra session.

Rush, who joins Mapletown’s Derek Bochna, Carmichaels’ Rocky Doman, Waynesburg’s Lanfer Simpson and West Greene’s Rodney Wilson as 4,000-yard rushers from Greene County, scored all four Mapletown touchdowns on runs of 50, 20, 10 and 10 yards.

Rush’s first 10-yard TD gave Mapletown (3-2, 4-3) a 20-12 lead in the third quarter, but Jefferson-Morgan put together an 18-play drive that culminated in a three-yard TD run by Colton Davidson with 1:16 left in the fourth quarter. A conversion run by the Rockets’ Joe Headlee, who had 128 yards on 32 carries, tied the score at 20-20. Headlee scored on runs of 17 and one yards.

Rush is the 69th player in WPIAL history to gain 4,000 career rushing yards.
