Boys soccer: Peters Township blanks Canon-Mac, stays at top of 2-AAAA

Bryce Gabelhart scored the first three goals of the game as Peters Township kept pace with Upper St. Clair atop Section 2-AAAA with a 4-0 win over visiting Canon-McMillan Thursday night.

Logan Brinsky also scored for the Indians (7-1-1, 10-1-3), who hold the tiebreaker over Upper St. Clair, which also is 7-1-1 in section.

Justin Gamble made five saves for the Indians.

Canon-McMillan is 5-5, 9-6.

• Five different players scored goals as Waynesburg finished its Section 3-AA schedule with a 5-0 win over Brownsville.

Nate Blair, Gavin Benson, Ray Behm, Cody Grandes and Ashton McCartney all had goals for the Raiders (11-1, 13-1), who had already clinched the section title.

Jonathan Sakai recorded the shutout over the Falcons (5-6-1, 7-8-1).

• Jake Spencer had two goals as Trinity defeated McKeesport, 4-2, in a non-section match.

Austin Aber and Logal Mowl also scored for the Hillers (6-10). McKeesport falls to 0-15.

• Dustin Mock had two goals but it wasn’t enough as Monessen defeated California, 3-2, in a Section 4-A match.

Monessen improved to 5-9 in section play and 6-9 overall. California is 2-12, 2-13.
