Hughes, Bearcats pass test against Waynesburg

WAYNESBURG – Josh Hughes completed 27 of 40 passes for 298 yards and four touchdowns to rally Bentworth to a 27-15 non-conference high school football win Friday night over Waynesburg.

Hughes threw two TD passes for Riley Nickeson and two to Ben Peternal, the second of which gave the Bearcats (2-3, 2-5) a 20-15 lead late in the third quarter. Peternal caught 14 passes for 190 yards.

Colin McCracken, who rushed for 119 yards and passes for 100, had a 6-yard scoring run and threw a 43-yard TD pass to Jacob McCallum for the Raiders (0-7, 0-7).

McCallum had four receptions for 87 yards, while Zach Eisiminger added 79 yards rushing for Waynesburg.
