Bentworth, the Section 2-A champion, had its 13-game winning streak end Saturday with a 3-2 loss to visiting Charleroi in a non-section contest.

Kaitlyn Riley scored all three goal for Charleroi (9-6), a Class AA team. The Cougars have won three in a row.

Bentworth (13-1) received two goals from Jocelyn Timlin.

“This was great playoff preparation,” Bentworth coach Tyler Hamstra said despite the loss. “We possessed the ball and interchanged in the attack the best we have all season. There were so many aspects I was happy with today.

“It was good for our young team to play against a Double-A group of girls who are as athletic as us, or in some cases more athletic. Riley had a great game and we gave her too much time on the ball. You can’t do that because she can shoot and it hurt us.”

In other non-section matches, South Fayette played to a 2-2 tie with Bethel Park, Trinity and Winchester Thurston battled to a 1-1 stalemate and Peters Township rolled over Allderdice 8-1. No details were made available to the Observer-Reporter.

Rex Heuler scored on a second-half penalty kick, his second such goal of the game, to give Peters Township a 3-2 victory over Mt. Lebanon in a Section 2-AAAA match.

Logan Brinsky scored the other goal for the Indians (8-1-1, 11-3-1). Jack Remark and Pippy Croce each scored a goal for Mt. Lebanon (2-6-1, 3-11-2).

• Gavin Benson scored three goals, Blake Brewer had one score and assisted on two others and Waynesburg rolled to a 7-0 victory over visiting Beth-Center in a non-section match to close the regular season.

The playoff-bound Raiders (14-1), the Section 3-AA champions, also received goals from Jack Church, Jimmy George and Zach Yenchik.

Beth-Center finishes with a 4-12-1 record.

• Brandon Byer scored two goals as Canon-McMillan defeated Quaker Valley 2-1 in a non-section game. The Big Macs improved their record to 10-6.
