Geresti lifts Avella over Monessen
AVELLA – Garrett Geresti scored all five touchdowns for Avella as the Eagles handed Monessen a 35-6 loss Friday night in a Tri-County South football game.
Geresti scored three of his touchdowns in the span of two minutes to break out what had been a scoreless game to that point. He caught an 80-yard TD pass from Dalton Simonelli with 37 seconds remaining in the first half, then returned a pair of fumbles – both 40 yards – for scores at the 11:47 and 11:00 marks of the second quarter for the Eagles (2-5, 2-7).
Geresti, who rushed for 66 yards on 10 carries and had 80 yards receiving, then had scoring runs of 24 and 5 yards to make it 35-0 before Greyhounds (1-5, 1-8) finally got on the board with a 55-yard run by Zion Aldrich.
Jaron Youngblood had 83 yards on 19 carries for Monessen.
