Canon-McMillan rolls into semis
MOON – Sabrina Bryan had a pair of goals as Canon-McMillan topped Seneca Valley, 3-1, Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the WPIAL Class AAAA girls soccer playoffs.
Annabel Thomas added a goal and an assist for the second-seeded Bigs Macs (17-0-1), who advance to face section-foe Mt. Lebanon, a 3-2 winner over Penn-Trafford in Saturday’s semifinals at a site and time to be determined.
Canon-McMillan swept Mt. Lebanon during the regular season by identical 2-0 scores.
Megan Virgin stopped five shots in goal for the Big Macs, allowing only Morgan Hoffman to beat her for Seneca Valley (13-6-1).
Montour 5, South Fayette 0: For the third time this season, Montour did not allow a goal by South Fayette, knocking the Lions out of the WPIAL Class AAA playoffs with a 5-0 win at Moon.
Montour (15-2-3) advances to Saturday’s semifinals to play South Park, a winner over Hampton Thursday night.
South Fayette, lost to Montour, 3-0 and tied 0-0 earlier in the season, finishes its season at 19-8-2.
