Nick Mundell ran for one score and threw a 66-yard scoring pass to Cody Brown on a halfback option with 5:19 remaining Friday night as Carmichaels won its season and Tri-County South Conference opener at Monessen, 20-12.

Brown’s catch and score gave Carmichaels a 20-6 lead with 5:19 remaining. Monessen (0-1, 0-2) answered with a 56-yard TD pass from Cory Fleming to Vaughn Taylor, but the Greyhounds never held the lead.

Mundell opened the scoring with a two-yard run and Robert Meadows’ sack and safety increased the Mikes’ advantage to 8-0. Jon Christopher’s one-yard plunge put Carmichaels ahead 14-6 at halftime.
