Culberson helps Fort Cherry knock off Monessen
MONESSEN – Ryhan Culberson returned a punt for a touchdown, caught a TD pass and threw for two scores to lead Fort Cherry to a 32-13 victory over host Monessen in the Tri-County South Conference high school football game Friday night.
The win moves Fort Cherry to 2-0 in the conference and 3-0 overall. Monessen is 1-1-2, 1-3.
Monessen took a 7-0 lead on a 15-yard run by Vaughn Taylor, but Fort Cherry reeled off 26 consecutive points. Culberson got things going for the Rangers by returning a punt 50 yards in the first quarter for a 7-7 tie. Brady Whalen and Scott Miller hooked up on an 82-yard TD pass to give Fort Cherry the lead at 14-7.
Culberson added a 33-yard TD run and threw a 33-yard touchdown to Miller to make it 26-7. Zachary Zincenti scored FC’s final touchdown on a 7-yard pass from Culberson in the fourth quarter.
Miller caught five passes for 170 yards and two scores. Jaron Youngblood carried 24 times for 143 yards for Monessen.
