Shope leads rally as Altoona tops Peters Township in shootout

McMURRAY – Ryan Shope threw for 337 yards and five touchdowns, the final two of that erased a 37-27 Peters Township lead, as Altoona rallied to beat the Indians, 40-37, in a Southeastern Conference game Friday night.

Shope completed 27 of 42 passes with one interception for Altoona (1-1, 2-2). Kyle Good was the main receipient, catching 11 passes for 126 yards and three touchdowns, the last of which came with one minute remaining in the fourth quarter to give Altoona the lead.

Jake Cortes completed 11 of 19 passes for 217 yards and three touchdowns and also rushed for a score for Peters Township (0-2, 1-3).

The Indians also got 84 runs on 12 carries from TJ Kpan and a 47-yard fumble return in the fourth quarter from George Winslow with 9:39 remaining to make the score 37-27.
