Luke Kelly volleyed off a chest trap five minutes before halftime Tuesday to score his first goal of the season and give Peters Township a 1-0 lead in a Section 2-AAAA match against Upper St. Clair. That advantage remained for the rest of the game, as goalkeeper Justin Gamble held off the Panthers (3-1, 5-1), making four saves for his sixth shutout of the year. The Indians (6-0-2, 3-0) stay undefeated in section.
• Brandon Byer scored two first-half goals and Canon-McMillan held off Bethel Park 2-1 in Section 2-AAAA.
Byer scored the first two goals of the match for the Big Macs (3-1, 6-2) and then held off Bethel Park’s charge. The Black Hawks (1-3, 2-5-1) used a goal from David Conley with 15 minutes remaining to pull to within one goal but could not put much pressure on C-M goalkeeper Andrew Balog, who made four saves.
• Section 3-AA leader Waynesburg remained undefeated by handling visiting Yough, 3-1.
Waynesburg (5-0, 7-0) scored the first two goals of the match. They came from Blake Brewer and Nate Blair. Yough (2-3, 2-4) pulled to within 2-1 on a goal by Lou Warynak, but Waynesburg sealed the victory at 38:39 of the second half on a goal by Jack Church.
• Trinity shut out Uniontown 1-0 in a Section 3-AAA match. Noah Johnson put the Hillers (2-2, 2-5) on top with a Logan Mowl-assisted goal 10 minutes after play began. Trinity goalkeeper Sam Day had seven saves.
• California blanked Beth-Center 4-0 thanks to a varied offensive attack. Tyler Jacobs, Carter Popelas, Nick Ryckman and Dustin Mock each scored for the Trojans.
