Trojans pull away late to beat Maples

MAPLETOWN – California scored three of the last four touchdowns to send California to a 44-28 win over Mapletown in a Class A Tri-County South Conference high school football game Friday night.

Jon Wood scored two touchdowns on runs of 3 and 16 yards and Cochise Ryan scored his second of the game for the Trojans (2-1, 3-2). Ryan opened the scoring for California on a 16-yard run. Damien Simyak returned a fumble for a 23-yard score and Nick Barron recovered a fumble in the end zone for another score. Wood had 105 yards on 18 carries.

Mapletown running back Dylan Rush ran for 253 yards on 29 yards and scored on runs of 80, 5 and 12 yards for the Maples (2-1, 3-2).
