Regan LaVigna made a move around a defender and slid an unassited goal into the net early in the game and Peters Township held on to defeat previously unbeaten Fox Chapel Wednesday night in a non-section contest on the Foxes’ home field.

LaVigna’s goal came 5;56 into the first half and that was enough for Indians goalkeeper Aca Falcione, who made nine saves and kept Fox Chapel (9-1), the Section 3-AAAA leader, scoreless. Peters Township improved its record to 6-3-1.

• Erin James’ goal with 1:15 remaining broke a tie and gave host Chartiers-Houston a 2-1 victory over Beth-Center in a tight 2-A match.

Chartiers-Houston (4-3, 5-6) forged a 1-0 lead on a goal by Haley Williamson with 16 minutes left in the first half. Beth-Center scored the equalizer with four minutes left in regulation as the Bulldogs’ Sierra Phillips found the net with a shot. James gave the lead back to the Bucs and they prevented B-C from getting a shot on goal down the stretch.

C-H goalkeeper Kasey Scars made six saves.

• Madison Clayton took a chip from Jillian Kojowski and found the back of the net with a shot for the match’s lone goal as Section 3-AA leader Waynesburg edged host Brownsville 1-0.

Waynesburg goalkeeper Emily McCarty had to stop five shots by Brownsville (0-6, 1-10).

Waynesburg (6-0, 9-1) has a two-game lead over both Derry and Yough in the section standings.

• Undefeated Canon-McMillan scored seven first-half goals and overwhelmed visiting Connellsville 11-0 in a non-section game.

Goalkeeper Megan Virgin had to make three saves for the Big Macs as Connellsville fell to 4-5-1.

• South Fayette received goals from Jayna Fittapaldo, Rachel Weis and Autumn Heineman to defeat Ambridge 3-1 in Section 4-AAA.

The Lions improved to 5-3, 7-4.
