Boys soccer: Loughman scores 2 as Bentworth clinches playoff berth
Mitchell Loughman scored a pair of goals Thursday as Bentworth clinched a playoff spot in Section 4-A with a 4-1 win over Brentwood.
Levi Jordan and Blaine Fowler also scored for the Bearcats (8-1-1, 10-2-1).
Jim Cavanaugh scored for Brentwood (6-3-1, 7-3-1).
• Jonah Moore and Nate Cathell both scored in the second half to break a scoreless tie and help Canon-McMillan to a 2-1 Section 2-AAAA win over Baldwin.
Nick Frediani got the win in goal for the Big Macs (4-3, 8-4). Baldwin is 1-5-1, 1-10-1.
• Peters Township forged a two-goal lead by early in the second half and held off visiting Mt. Lebanon 2-1 in Section 4-AAAA.
Evan Carrington and Jake Obringer scored goals to give the Indians (5-1, 8-1-2) the two-goal lead. Sam Hendry scored with six minutes remaining to pull Mt. Lebanon (0-5-1, 1-8-2) to within 2-1. PT goalkeeper Justin Gamble made five saves.
Peters Township remained undefeated in seven home matches.
• Colby Davis scored three goals and visiting Laurel Highlands defeated Trinity 4-0 in a Section 3-AAA game.
The loss dropped Trinity’s record to 3-4 in section and 3-7 overall. Laurel Highlands is 4-2m 7-4-1.
