Milligan’s TD, Lemus’ interception give Canon-Mac overtime win
ALTOONA – Bryan Milligan scored his second touchdown of the game to open overtime and Alonzo Lemus intercepted a pass on Altoona’s first play of the extra period as Canon-McMillan picked up its first Southeastern Conference high school football victory of the season with a 21-14 win over the Mountain Lions Friday night.
Milligan, who had been hampered by an ankle injury suffered in the first game of the season for the Big Macs (1-3, 2-4), erupted for 273 yards on 41 carries, also scoring the first TD of the game with 1 second remaining in the third quarter on a 25-yard run.
The two teams traded scores after that, as Tyler Petucci scored on a 13-yard run and Ryan Shope tossed a 29-yard TD pass to Kyle Good for Altoona (1-3, 2-4), while Rahmiere Knight caught a 22-yard scoring pass from Jordan Castelli to keep the score tied.
Altoona had an opportunity to win the game late, but Andrew Engel picked off Shope with 30 seconds remaining with the Mountain Lions in Canon-McMillan territory.
