South Fayette surives scare against Blackhawk
DARLINGTON – Drew Saxton threw four second-half touchdowns passes, the last to Dan Trimbur with 1:10 remaining, as undefeated South Fayette rallied to beat host Blackhawk 28-21 in a Northwest Nine Conference high school football game Friday night.
Blackhawk (2-2, 3-2) forged a 21-0 lead in the second quarter on two touchdown runs by Dan Savilisky, and a four-yard scoring pass from Savilisky to Dan Schroads with four seconds left in the first half.
South Fayette (4-0, 6-0) roared back in the second half and won its 43rd consecutive regular-season game. Saxton, who completed 21 of 39 passes for 337 yards, got the comeback started when he connected with Trimbur for a seven-yard touchdown. An 11-yard TD pass to Noah Plack with 20 seconds left in the third quarter cut Blackhawk’s lead to 28-21.
The Lions tied the score early in the fourth quarter when Saxton passed 10 yards to Trimbur.
That set up the third Saxton-to-Trimbur touchdown pass, this one the game-winner with 1:10 remaining and covering three yards.
Trimbur caught eight passes for 81 yards. SF running back Geovanie Love rna for 120 yards on 21 carries.
