TJ’s big second half overpowers Ringgold
MONONGAHELA – Thomas Jefferson blew open a close game by scoring 41 points in the second half to defeat Ringgold, 55-14, in a Big Nine game Friday night at Joe Montana Stadium.
The usually high-scoring Jaguars (5-0, 5-0) were limited to just a pair of touchdowns in the first half, with both coming late in each quarter. Quinton Hill scored on a 4-yard run with under one minute remaining in the first quarter and Bobby Kelley threw a 15-yard TD pass to Jake Gergerich on the final play of the second quarter.
Brian Vandusen had a 90-yard kickoff return for a score after Hill’s touchdown for the Rams (3-2, 3-2), who trailed 14-7 at the half.
Hill, who rushed for 229 yards and five touchdowns on 26 carries, took control in the second half, scoring four times. Kelley completed 10 of 20 passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns.
George Martin was 13 of 32 passing for the Rams for 240 yards and one touchdown – a 58-yard pass to Dalton Holt in the third quarter – but threw three interceptions. Holt caught seven passes for 114 yards.
