High school softball: Waynesburg’s Ricciuti throws no-hitter
Emma Ricciuti threw a five-inning no-hitter with six strikeouts and no walks as Waynesburg defeated St. John Villa of Staten Island, N.Y., 13-0 Saturday in a non-section high school girls softball game in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
Paige Rutan hit a two-run homer, Bailee Shimek had a two-run triple and Sydney Hare and Rachel Elsenheimer both doubled for the Raiders (2-1).
Waynesburg made two errors in the game.
• Megan Christner had four hits, including a triple, as Belle Vernon shut out Ligonier Valley, 10-0, in a five-inning non-section game.
Jordan French added a home run and double, driving in three runs, while Kourtney Gavatorta added three hits, including a double, driving in three for the Leopards (5-0).
Bailey Parshall allowed just two hits, striking out six in the shutout.
Jane Carver took the loss for Ligonier (0-1).
