College baseball: Two easy for Vulcans

California used two strong pitching performances to sweep a non-conference doubleheader from Salem International, 11-1 and 12-2, Tuesday at the Washington Wild Things’ ballpark.

Anthony Winkler and two relievers combined on a two-hitter in the opener. Tyler Eritz and two more relievers worked a five-hitter for the Vulcans (11-11) in the second game.

Andrew Grace sparked Cal’s offense in the opener, going 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI. Garrett broosk drove in three.

Eric Fairman hit a three-run homer in the first inning of the second game. He finished the game with four RBI. Brooks and Kristian Webb also homered for the Vulcans.
