MT. LEBANON – Playing in a game just one day after the death of his father, Ralph, Canon-McMillan center fielder Nick Serafino had three hits and also reached base when he was hit by a pitch as the Big Macs downed Mt. Lebanon, 6-0, Wednesday in a Class 6-A Section 3 game.

Ralph Serafino died Tuesday at age 52.

Nick Serafino’s big day helped make a winner of pitcher Zach Rohaley, who went the distance, striking out six and scattering four hits for the Big Macs (2-0, 3-4).

Ian Hess had three hits, including a double, for Canon-McMillan, and Cameron Weston doubled.

David Abondazza doubled for the Blue Devils (0-1, 3-4).

• Jake Broadwater made the most of his first start on the mound this season and in the process continued a mazing streak of domination by Jefferson-Morgan pitchers over Geibel Catholic.

Broadwater threw a six-inning no-hitter and faced the minimum number of batters as Jefferson-Morgan defeated the Gators 10-0 in Section 2-A.

The no-hitter was the third consecutive for Jefferson-Morgan over Geibel. They were thrown by three different pitchers and happened in three consecutive seasons.

Geibel had only one baserunner against Broadwater, that being a walk in the fourth inning. That runner was erased when the next batter hit into a double play. Broadwater needed only 68 pitches to get through the six innings.

Eli Raifail led J-M (1-0, 1-3) at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a triple, three runs and two RBI. Isaac Dean was 3-for-3 with a double and four RBI. Broadwater helped his cause with a double.

Cooper Sharp had a two-run single in the big first inning for the Prexies (1-1, 2-2). Nathan Shallcross had a double and John Griffin was 3-for-4.

• Joel Spishock had a big day at the plate, hitting two home runs, driving in eight runs and leading Carmichaels to a 17-6 six-inning victory over host Beth-Center in Section 1-AA.

Spishock went 3-for-4 and scored three runs to help the Mikes stay unbeaten at 2-0 in section and 4-0 overall.

Dylan Wilson, Matthew Barrish and Spishock – the top three hitters in Carmichaels’ batting order – each scored three runs to support winning pitcher Logan Mayhle, who worked four innings.

Anthony Dellapenna doubled for Beth-Center (0-2, 0-4).

• Bentworth scored nine runs over the final two innings and defeated visiting Fort Cherry 13-3 in five innings in Section 1-AA.

Isaiah Russell led Bentworth’s 11-hit attack with three singles. Riley Nickeson was 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles, and Jacob Maimone doubled and drove in two runs.

Winning pitcher Josh Hughes scattered six hits and struck out five.

Bentworth is 1-1 in section and 2-3 overall. FC fell to 0-2, 2-2.

• Tristan Tinney’s RBI single in the top of the fifth inning broke up a no-hitter and was South Fayette’s lone hit in a 2-1 Section 2-AAA win over Ambridge.

South Fayette (2-0, 3-0) got 6 1/3 innings of one-run, five-hit pitching from Cam Hoover, who scored the winning run, to get the win.

Travis Holman was the hard-luck loser for Ambridge. He struck out 12 in six innings.

• West Allegheny took advantage of 11 walks to beat Trinity, 7-4, in a Class 5-A Section 2 game.

Burgettstown (0-2, 0-3) trailed 8-0 in the bottom of the fifth before scoring nine runs in the inning for a 9-8 lead. Sam Huggins had two hits and four RBI for the Blue Devils. Josh Noce had two hits and drove in two.

Logan Kulikowski had a double and Shane McGavitt three hits for Frazier (2-0, 2-2).

• Jack Liberatore struck out 10 and doubled, scoring three times, as Greensburg Central Catholic topped Mapletown, 19-1, in a four-inning Section 2-A game.

Jason Hoover had three hits, including a triple, and drove in six runs for GCC (2-0, 2-0).

Dylan Rush and Brian Bogden had hits for Mapletown (1-1, 2-3).

South Park (2-0, 7-1) scored five runs in the fourth inning to take an 8-2 lead.

• Undefeated Peters Township scored 13 runs over the first two innings and crusied to a 13-1 victory over Taylor Allderdice in a Class 6-A Section 3 game.

PT (2-0, 7-0) did much of its damage with sinngles as the Indians had only two extra-base hits, doubles by Xander Cavanaugh and Brian Livolsi. T.J. Dailey was the winning pitcher.
