Tri-CADA to honor 10 scholar athletes
The Tri-County Athletic Directors’ Association honors 10 student-athletes each year with scholarships. These athletes have excelled in the classroom and on the field.
Five boys and five girls will be honored at the Coach of the Year Banquet, which will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, April 23 at the DoubleTree by Hilton in the Meadow Lands.
Tickets for the banquet are $35 each and are on sale at Washington High School, 201 Allison Ave., Washington, PA, 15301. Reservations can be made by calling athletic director Mike Bosnic at 724-223-5085, ext. 2091. All proceeds from the banquet benefit Special Olympics.
The following is a brief bio on the 10 honorees.
Spencer Terling, Chartiers-Houston: Terling spent four seasons in football and basketball and three in track & field. He is a member of SADD, the Leo Club, Student Government, National Honor Society and Peer Jury. Terling has a 4.71 grade-point average.
Justice Rice, Monessen Rice played four years of basketball, three in soccer and two in baseball. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Club, SADD and Newspaper Club. His GPA sits at 4.65 on a scale of 5.0.
Brad McLaughlin, Burgettstown: Football, basketball and track were McLaughlin’s sports of choice. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the ski club. He carries a GPA of 3.65.
Colin McCracken, Waynesburg: McCracken spent four seasons playing football and wrestling, and competed for one season in baseball. He is a member of the Spanish Club, Office Workers Club, the National Honor Society and Varsity Club. McCracken carries a 4.0 GPA.
Daniel Florentino, Peters Township: Florentino wrestled for four seasons, ran cross country the past two years and played rec soccer. He’s been president of his class the past three years, a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Executive Council, the Math Honor Society and Interact Club. He has a 5.11 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Erin Confortini, Jefferson-Morgan: Confortini played four years of varsity basketball, volleyball and track for the Rockets. She is a member of the Drama Club, Student Council, Academic Team, Debate Team, Interact, National Honor Society and Leo Club. She has a 4.3 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Shannon Relihan, Fort Cherry: Relihan played four seasons of basketball, volleyball and track for the Rangers. She is a member of the National Honor Society, secretary of the National Honor Society, and Student Council president. She carries a 4.1 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Marissa Rode, West Greene: Rode was a member for the basketball team and softball teams for four years and was in Cheer for three seasons. Rode is vice presidents of the National Honor Society, is a Peer Mentor and a member of the Art Club. She carries a 3.85 GPA.
Alexandria Seto, Brownsville: Seto was a four-year member of the cross country team, volleyball team, basketball team and track & field team. She is a member of Student Council, Student Action, the Math Club, National Honor Society, French National Honor Society and is class treasurer. She has a 4.20 GPA.
Cheyenne Trest, Canon McMillan: Trest spent four years on the soccer team and four on the basketball team. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, the Math Club and Student Council. She has a 4.5 GPA.
