High school softball roundup: West Greene rolls, improves to 11-0
Kaitlyn Rizor had four hits, including a double, and winning pitcher Madison Renner had a double among her three hits as West Greene remained unbeaten with a 14-1, five-inning Section 2-A win over Mapletown Monday.
Renner allowed just one hit and struck out six. Madison Lampe homered and Lindsey Stover doubled for the Pioneers (6-0, 11-0).
Mikayla Perry had the lone hit for Mapletown (2-4, 2-7).
• Lauren Lober drove in five runs and Kaci Alderosn had two doubles and three RBI as Chartiers-Houston defeated McGuffey 15-2 in a six-inning nonsection game.
The game tied 1-1 in the third inning when Chartiers-Houston (10-1) took control by scoring five times. The Bucs added nine more runs over the final two innings.
Lober led C-H’s 14-hit attack by going 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored. Alderson also had three hits. Jessica Ford triple, and Kayla Alderson and Jaylese Lombardi each doubled for the Bucs.
Winning pitcher Karlyn Bayer threw a five-hitter. Brin Hunter was 2-for-2 for McGuffey (2-7).
• Chase Watson had three hits, including two doubles, and drove in four runs to lead Bentworth past Charleroi, 12-5, in a non-section game.
Autumn Zgorliski doubled for Bentworth (6-6). Leah Lindsey scattered six hits and struck out eight.
Ciara Stickles had two doubles for Charleroi (1-6).
