High school baseball roundup: Ringgold pitchers deliver KO of Keystone Oaks

Chase Angotti drove in two runs and three Ringgold pitchers combined on a six-hitter as the Rams defeated visiting Keystone Oaks 3-1 Tuesday in Section 3-AAAA.

Ringgold scored single runs in the first, second and sixth innings and held off a seventh-inning rally by Keystone Oaks (2-1, 2-4).

Ryan Varley, Luke Winterbottom and Bo Haines combined on the pitching for Ringgold with Haines throwing the final five innings, striking out nine.

Varley, Koby Bash and Anthony Pampena each had a double among Ringgold’s six hits.

• Joel Spishock and Nathan Broadwater each drove in three runs as Carmichaels erased an early deficit and defeated host Fort Cherry 14-3 in a five-inning Section 1-AA game.

Fort Cherry (1-4, 3-5) led 3-0 after two innings but Carmichaels (4-1, 6-2) scored the game’s final 14 runs. The Mikes took the lead with a five-run third inning and scored seven times in the fourth.

Spishock hit a home run, and Broadwater and Cody Brown doubled for the Mikes’ extra-base hits. Broadwater was 3-for-4 and Dylan Wilson was 3-for-3. Matt Barrish was the winning pitcher.

Cameron Schaub hit a two-run homer in the first inning for Fort Cherry and Alex Nemec had a double.

• Alex Adams and Brandon Powell each drove in two runs and Nathaniel Luketich allowed one run over six strong innings as Section 1-AA leader California defeated Section 2-A leader Greensburg Central Catholic, 9-2.

Adams, Tyler Jacobs, Richard Stimmell and Enzo Mariscotti each doubled for California (8-1), which trailed 1-0 in the fifth inning. Luketich struck out five and held GCC (3-1) in check until the Trojans’ offense got going.

• Zach Southern threw a three-hitter and struck out nine as Chartiers-Houston defeated visiting Beth-Center 4-0 in Section 1-AA.

The win moves C-H (4-1, 5-3) to within one game of first-place California in the section.

The Bucs’ T.J. Johnston doubled home the game’s first run in the first inning and that was all the support Southern required as he needed only 93 pitches to toss a complete game.

Beth-Center fell to 1-4, 1-6.

• Dylan Hargenrader threw a four-hitter as visiting Springdale won a pitchers’ duel against Jefferson-Morgan, 3-2, in a nonsection game.

Hargenrader struck out six and did not issue a walk for the Dynamos (1-5).

Jefferson-Morgan’s Isaac Dean drove in a run in the first inning with a double and hit a solo homer with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. Rockets pitcher Devin Stoneking threw a complete game, allowing six hits.

Jefferson-Morgan’s record is 3-4.

• Dalton Simonelli had a double and triple, driving in four runs, as Avella defeated Monessen, 11-5, in a non-section game.

Garrett Geresti tripled and had four RBI for the Eagles (2-4). Dylan Markle was the winning pitcher.

Cory Fleming, Antonio Rhome and Tyler Catenino each doubled forMonessen (2-4).

• Michael Howard drove in three runs with a double and triple, and Zack Pettit did the same with a double, as West Greene defeated Cameron, W.Va., 11-1, in a five-inning non-section game.

Zack Abbott also doubled for West Greene (2-4). Winning pitcher Kylar Adams allowed only two hits.

• Winning pitcher Bobby Proudfit and Kyle Kelley both doubled as Trinity defeated McGuffey, 14-1, in a five-inning non-section game.

Proudfit and Nick Herrnberger drove in three runs each for the Hillers (3-6), who drew 10 walks.

Lane Wilkerson doubled for McGuffey (5-5).

• Zach Southern had a pair of doubles and drove in scored a pair of runs as Chartiers-Houston outlasted McGuffey, 8-5, in a non-section game late Monday night.

Destin Weiser added a double for C-H, and Ryan James pitched 4 2/3 scoreless innings of relief for the win.

Eddie Shingle, Adam Blacharczyk and Matt Novak each doubled for McGuffey (5-4).
