Mackenzie Partyka had three hits, including two doubles, and drove in a pair of runs as undefeated West Allegheny, the top-ranked team in Class 5-A, held off a late rally and edged Canon-McMillan 6-5 in a nonsection game Saturday on the Indians’ home field.

West Allegheny (13-0) took a 5-0 lead after two innings. Canon-McMillan (6-2), which had its five-game winning streak end, rallied behind Lindsay Schmidt, who doubled and drove in four runs. The Big Macs closed to within 5-4 in the fifth but West Allegheny scored a pivotal insurance run in the sixth for a two-run advantage.

A West Allegheny error in the seventh allowed Canon-Mac to close to within one run again, and the Big Macs had two runners on base when the game ended.
