Windy City runs down Wild Things

The Washington Wild Things took a step back in wild-card chase of the Frontier League playoffs after falling to Windy City, 9-3, Saturday night.

The loss puts Washington 1 1/2 games behind Windy City for second place in the East Division. The final game of the series is 5 p.m. today.

Coco Johnson went 2-for-3 with a home run and scored three runs, and Corey Bass went 1-for-3 and scored twice for Windy City, which pounded out nine hits. Zac Westcot gave up two runs in 7 2/3 inning to get the win.

Windy City erupted for eight runs over three innings, scoring three in the second, four in the third and one in the fourth to take an 8-3 lead.

Losing pitcher Aaron Burns did not make it out of the third inning, going 2 1/3 and allowing seven earned runs.

Bralin Jackson had two of Washington’s six hits.
