Boys basketball roundup: Carmichaels off to 2-0 start

Matt Barrish made 8 of 10 free throws in the fourth quarter to seal a 66-57 victory over visiting Geibel in a non-section game Monday night.

Barrish finished, hitting 10 of 12 free throws for the Mikes (2-0). Nick Mundell scored 20 points.

Ryan Anderson scored 17 for the Gators (1-2) and A.J. Ewing chipped in with 14.

Westinghouse 86, Monessen 66: Westinghouse erupted for 57 second-half points to take an 86-66 win from Monessen in the Franklin Regional Tournament.

Monessen led 34-29 at halftime but Westinghouse outscored the Greyhounds 57-32 over the last two quarters.

James Ellis led Westinghouse (3-0) with 24.

Lyndon Henderson scored a game-high 28 points, Dishon Howell and Cory Fleming each had 11 and Elijahwa Payne finished with 10 for the Greyhounds (1-2).

Belle Vernon 87, Mt. Pleasant 44: Four players scored in double figures to help Belle Vernon to an 87-44 victory over Mt. Pleasant in a non-section game.

Christian Murphy led the way with 12 points for BV (2-1). Joe Sabolek and Bryce Washington each scored 11 points and Tommm Hepple added 10 points.

Ryan Quinn’s 13 points paced the Vikings (0-3).

Beth-Center 46, West Greene 28: Jacob Bobbs had 13 points and seven rebounds as Beth-Center defeated West Greene 46-28 in a non-section game.

J.J. Green also helped pace the Bulldogs offense with nine points and nine rebounds, as Beth-Center (2-1) pulled away in the third quarter by outscoring the Pioneers 11-2.

Garret Ross, Joey Reed and Austin Crouse each had eight points for West Greene (0-2).
