Cornerback O’Shea Anderson and wide receiver Jesse Zubik were named to the first team of the Associated Press Division III All-America teams Thursday.

This was the first year the Associated Press broke their All-America teams down by divisions for NCAA Divisions II and III and the NAIA. Previously, all three levels were combined into the AP Little All-America team.

Zubik and Anderson are the 13th and 14th players from W&J named to previous Little All-America teams.

Zubik was recognized for the second straight season, making Little All-America second team in 2016. Earlier this week, he was named first team All-America by the American Football Coaches Association and second team Academic All-America by the College Sports Information Directors of America. He also was a first team All-South Region selection by D3football.com and the organization’s South Region Offensive Player of the Year. Zubik was named first team All-PAC and the ECAC’s Offensive Player of the Year.

The 5-10 senior finished his storied career with 4,756 receiving yards, third most in Division III history. His 291 receptions and 54 touchdown receptions placed him eighth and ninth, respectively. This season, Zubik topped Division III with 1,408 yards, with 84 receptions and 17 touchdowns.

This is the first AP award for Anderson. He previously earned first team All-South Region honors from D3football.com this year and was first team All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference in 2016 and 2017. He also was a first team ECAC All-Star in 2017 after making second team in 2016.

The 6-1 senior cornerback is tied for the NCAA lead, all levels, with nine interceptions. He broke up 11 passes and had 20 passes defended, which was ninth in Division III. His nine interceptions are the third-most in a season in W&J history and his 13 career interceptions are the fifth highest total. Two of his nine interceptions were returned for touchdowns, a 72-yarder against Westminster on Oct. 21, and a 29-yarder on Nov. 11. He had at least one interception in seven games and picked off a pair of passes twice, including the NCAA second round against Frostburg State (Md.). In 2017’s two playoff games, Anderson had three interceptions.

The 2017 AP Division III All-America teams were voted on by a panel of Sports Information Directors from across the country. W&J’s two selections, plus Carnegie Mellon punter Tyler Kohman, made up the three picks from the PAC on this year’s team.
