Waynesburg cruises past Pitt-Greensburg
The Waynesburg University women’s basketball team didn’t want to head into its eight-day holiday break thinking about a tough overtime loss this week.
The Yellow Jackets avoided that when they put together their most impressive offensive performance of the year in a 91-55 road victory over Pitt-Greensburg in a nonconference game Thursday afternoon.
Waynesburg, which moves to 6-4 overall, shot 54 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point range to produce a season-high 91 points.
The Yellow Jackets were led from behind the arc by junior guard Anna Bartman. The Beth-Center graduate came off the bench to hit four three-pointers and finish with 12 points.
Bartman was one of three non-starters for the Yellow Jackets to score in double digits. Waynesburg got 14 points from Andrea Orlosky and a game-high 16 points for Kerri Bungard.
Five players for the Yellow Jackets finished in double figures, and they scored at least 19 points in every quarter to dominate Pitt-Greensburg (1-10)
Waynesburg held a 43-21 lead at halftime.
Kelsey Oddis lead Pitt-Greensburg with 17 points.
Sabre Turner and Nadege Durand had 13 and 12 points, respectively.
