Monessen raced to a 22-7 lead after one quarter Saturday afternoon and cruised to a 78-63 non-section win over host Belle Vernon.

Jaden Altomore scored 33 points, Lyndon Henderson 13 and Jaron Youngblood 11 for the Greyhounds, who improved to 14-6. Monessen led by as many as 25 points in the second half.

Derek Thomas scored 12 points and Joe Sabolek had 10 for the Leopards (15-5), who are in first place in Section 3-AAAA.

First Love Christian Academy 62, Blair Academy (N.J.) 57: First Love Christian Academy withstood a furious fourth-quarter rally and held off Blair Academy 62-57 in the Tom Richel Memorial Hoopfest in Roselle, N.J.

First Love (15-2) led 33-11 at halftime and 45-24 late in the third quarter. Blair Academy, however, began the fourth quarter with a 16-2 run to make the game intresating at the end.
