Girls basketball: Madison Lampe leads West Greene to win
Madison Lampe led four scorers in double digits with 24 points as West Greene defeated Avella, 75-28, in a Section 2-A high school girls basketball game.
Kaitlyn Rizor added 20 points, McKenna Lampe 16 and Brianna Goodwin 10 for the Pioneers (9-0, 17-3).
Bailee Lis led Avella (5-5, 9-11) with nine points.
Jefferson-Morgan 46, Mapletown 30: Krista McCartney scored 17 points as Jefferson-Morgan pulled away from Mapletown in the second half for a 46-30 Section 2-A win over the Maples.
Jeff-Morgan (6-4, 10-11) led 15-13 at the half before going on a 19-11 run in the third quarter.
Abby Antill scored 15 points and Kayla Smith had 15 rebounds for the Maples (3-6, 8-13).
Gateway 44, Canon-McMillan 35: A 10-5 run in the fourth quarter helped Gateway to a 44-35 victory over Canon-McMillan in a non-section game.
Jordan Edwards and Alexis Smith each scored 12 points for the Gators (16-6), which led 20-15 after one quarter.
Cheyenne Trest scored 14 points and Izzy Allen added 11 for the Big Macs (8-12).
Geibel 47, Monessen 29: Grace Nowicki scored a game-high 24 points to help Geibel defeat Monessen in a Section 2-A game.
Marquela Green led the Greyhounds (0-10, 0-22) with 10 points. Geibel is 6-4 and 9-10.
California 65, Bentworth 14: California clinched second place in Section 3-AA with a 65-14 win over Bentworth.
Jenna Miller and Baiiley Vig scored 15 points each for the Trojans. Dominique Gaston scored 13 points and Love’ Porter added 10.
