California gets PSAC sweep of visiting Slippery Rock
A balanced scoring attack and sticky defense powered the California University women’s basketball team to a 96-65 win over Slippery Rock in a PSAC West Division game Monday at the Convocation Center.
Mikki Glenn led four scorers in double figures with 28 points and Shatara Parsons added 23 for Cal (8-1, 14-1), ranked eighth in the country. Seairra Bennett and Emily Suckling each scored 13 points. Cal’s offense scored more than 20 points in each quarter and held Slippery Rock under 20 in all four.
Mallory Heinl and C.C. Dixon each scored 13 points to lead The Rock (4-5, 7-8).
California 74, Slippery Rock 66: California snapped an 11-game losing streak in the series with Slippery Rock and ended a 19-game losing streak against PSAC opponents by coming away with a 74-66 victory at the Convocation Center.
Luka Andjusic led the way with a team-high 23 points for the Vulcans (1-8, 4-11). Rashawn Browne chipped in with 14 points. Robel Teckle (11) and Cordell Smith (10) also were in double figures.
Naquil Jones scored a game-high 28 points for Slippery Rock (5-4, 9-6).
