Girls basketball roundup: Jefferson-Morgan moves above .500 in Section 2-A

Senior guard Anna Mattish scored 14 points and Jefferson-Morgan did enough scoring in the middle two quarters Tuesday night to defeat host Mapletown 44-41 in Section 2-A.

The Rockets (3-2, 7-8) have won three of their last four games. They trailed 6-5 after one quarter but outscored the Maples 33-23 over the middle quarters. Mapletown could draw no closer than three points down the stretch.

Hannah Dingle scored a game-high 15 points for Mapletown (1-3, 4-9) and Kayla Smith tallied 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

Beth-Center 54, Bentworth 16: Kinlee Whited scored 14 points to help Beth-Center dispose of Bentworth, 54-16, in Section 3-AA.

Olivia Greco had 12 points and seven assists for the Bulldogs (3-4, 6-6). Elizabeth Trump had nine points and nine rebounds.
