Boys basketball: Jefferson-Morgan slips past Avella

Jalen Torres scored 14 of his 22 points from the foul line Monday night as Jefferson-Morgan held off Avella, 56-53, in a non-section game.

Torres made 14 of 15 free throws and DL Garrett added 12 points for the Rockets (4-12), who were 20 of 25 at the foul line as a team.

Garrett Geresti had 18 points, Shawn Willard 13 and Austin Lis and Kevin Painter 10 each for Avella (4-13), who made just 9 of 22 free throws.
