Wild Things win one, lose one
Lance Montano’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning scored Nick Walker to give Evansville an 11-10 victory over the Washington Wild Things and a split of their two games completed Saturday in the Frontier League.
Washington won the completion of a suspended game, 10-5, earlier in the day.
Josh Allen went 3-for-4, drove in four and scored four times to pace Evansville in the nightcap. Jeff Gardner knocked in three runs.
Washington had 14 hits in the second game, 29 for the day. Kevin Pollock went 2-for-5 and drove in three runs, and James Harris had two hits, two RBI and scored three runs for the Wild Things.
In the completion of the suspended game, Washington erupted for seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take control.
Kenny People-Walls had the big hit in the inning, a two-run single. Hector Roa, Trevin Sonnier, and Kane Sweeney each had an RBI single and Rashad Brown knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly. Another run scored on an Evansville error.
Kyle Pollock had a solo home run in the fifth, Justin Bohn singled in a run in the seventh and Pollock’s sac fly in the eighth finished Washington’s scoring,
Trevor Bradley got the win, despite allowing four runs in 5.1 innings.
Dane Phillips had a two-run home run in the first and Josh Allen a solo blast in the sixth for Evansville.
