Florence walks off against Things

FLORENCE, KY. – Garrett Vail hit a walk-off single to score Jordan Brewer to lift Florence past the Wild Things 6-5 Friday night at UC Health Stadium.

Daniel Fraga highlighted a three-run sixth inning with a single that scored Vail and Austin Wobrock, putting the Freedom up 5-3.

Washington’s Mike Hill then tied the game in the top of the eighth inning, 5-5, with a two-run home run, his second of the game after beginning the scoring for both teams with a solo shot in the second inning.

Jose Brizuela answered Hill’s second-inning homer with a two-run blast to put Florence up 2-1 after three innings.

The Wild Things tied the game in the fifth inning on a fielders’ choice scored Hill to knot things at 2-2.

Zach Strecker (4-1) was given the loss for the Wild Things after entering with one out in the eighth inning.

Matt Pobereyko (1-1) earned the win for Florence.

Washington will look to even the series today at 6 p.m.
