Bunt leads Things to win over Crushers
AVON, Ohio – Rashad Brown raced home from second base after Justin Bohn’s sacrifice bunt in the eighth inning was thrown away by Lake Erie pitcher Connor Reed as Washington defeated the Crushers 5-4 in a Frontier League contest Tuesday night.
The Wild Things built their lead early after Brown reached on a leadoff walk and singles from Bohn and Brailin Jackson led to a Kane Sweeney grand slam in the first inning put to them up 4-0.
Lake Erie climbed back with runs in the first and second innings before tying the game at 4-4 in the fifth inning on a Trevor Foss wild pitch that scored Lake Erie’s Parker Norris.
Foss (4-3) earned the win for Washington after going seven innings and giving up four runs on six hits.
Reed (1-5) suffered the loss after being pulled after his eighth-inning error that brought home the game-winning run for the Wild Things.
Zach Strecker picked up his sixth save of the season.
