Boyertown achieved double the history Friday night at Giant Center.

Playing in the first PIAA Class 6-A girls basketball title game, the Bears ran past North Allegheny, 46-35, to win the program’s first state championship.

Boyertown, the sixth-place team out of Dustrict 1, was the lowest-seeded team to qualify for a 2017 girls title game. Lebanon Catholic 44, Juniata Valley 43: Even an early, early deficit was not enough to prevent Lebanon Catholic from roaring back and taking control of its situation.

And while the Beavers needed to fight off a comeback bid in the second half, Lebanon Catholic held on for a 55-43 victory over District 6 runner-up Juniata Valley in the Class A girls basketball championship Friday afternoon at the Giant Center.

The victory ended a 22-season championship drought Lebanon Catholic, which won state titles in 1992 and 1995.
