Make that three consecutive state championships for Neumann-Goretti’s powerful yet remarkably resilient Saints. Even an early double-digit deficit could not deter Neumann-Goretti.

Ashley Jones scored 20 points and Chyna Nixon added 19 as Neumann-Goretti won the PIAA Class 3-A basketball championship with a come-from-behind 62-56 victory over Bishop Canevin Saturday at the Giant Center in Hershey.

The state championship was the third in as many years for the Saints (24-5), who trailed by as many as 12 points in the opening quarter before rallying.

Neumann-Goretti really turned it on in the second quarter, taking its initial lead with 1:32 remaining in the first half when Nixon scored on a layup.

Once they got in front, Peterson’s Saints never relinquished the lead
