Softball: West Greene still unbeaten
West Greene pounded out 12 hits in three innings to come away with an 11-0 victory over California in a non-section game.
Madison Lampe went 4-for-4 with three doubles and a triple, scored three times and drove in five for the Pioneers (4-0). McKenna Lampe went 3-for-3 with fours, three stolen bases and an RBI. Jade Renner (4-0) struck out seven, didn’t walk a batter, went 2-for-3 and drove in three. Marissa Rode doubled.
• A 10-run first inning helped send Fort Cherry to an 18-2 rout of Sto-Rox in a three-inning game.
Riley Carter had a double and 2-run home run for the Rangers (1-0). Kayla Salvini and Peyton White each had two RBI and Chloe Smith and stephanie Cable each had one.
• Dana Vatakis threw a 2-hitter with 15 strikeouts as Monessen defeated Avella, 10-0, in a six-inning Section 2-A game.
Destiny Haback homered and doubled for the Greyhounds (1-0, 1-0), while Tori Cooper also doubled.
Avella falls to 0-1, 0-1.
• Sydney Kormick’s three-run triple in the bottom of the fifth inning drove in two runs and lifted South Fayette to a 6-5 Section 2-AAAA win over West Mifflin in a game shortened by darkness.
Madison Potteiger got the win for the Lions (1-0, 4-1).
Lizzy Walsh doubled for West Mifflin (0-1, 2-1).

College baseball
Ben Miller hit a walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Waynesburg a split of a Presidents’ Athletic Conference doubleheader Wednesday with Thomas More, 3-2. The Saints won the opener, 4-1.
Sean Lawrence had two RBI for the Saints (3-2, 10-5) in the opener, while Miller had two doubles and drove in the lone run for the Yellow Jackets (3-2, 8-8).
Bailey Abbatiello homered for the Saints in the nightcap to tie the score at 2-2 in the fifth inning before Miller drove in Tyler Reis in the bottom of the seventh for the game-winner.
Reis also doubled for Waynesburg. Jonny Kutchman and Scott Hefty combined on a five-hitter for the Yellow Jackets.
