Baseball: Senhart, Riotto spark PT
Tor Senhart doubled and Eric Riotto drove him in with a single in the top of the seventh inning as Peters Township topped Bishop Watterson of Columbus, Ohio, 4-3, in a non-section high school boys baseball game Thursday in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Senhart’s double was his second of the game for the Indians (2-0). Dax Plosinka also doubled for PT. Nolan Thompson got the win and Garrett Miller earned a save.
Darrell Appoloni took the loss.
• North Allegheny scored three unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on two Canon-McMillan errors to edge the Big Macs, 4-3, in a non-section game.
Kevin Janosko picked up the win for the Indians (3-0), who also got a double from Anthony Hattrup.
Ian Hess had three of Canon-McMillan’s five hits in the game. Dylan Coyle was the hard-luck loser for the Big Macs (1-4).
• Ryank Kokoski threw a three-hitter as South Fayette shut out Burrell, 3-0, in a non-section game.
Joey Acorn had a double and drove in two runs for the Lions (1-0).
Burrell is 1-2.
• Three pitchers combined on a one-hitter as Carmichaels downed West Greene, 8-0, in a non-section game.
Zach Pettit had a leadoff single for the Pioneers (0-1) before the combination of Joel Spishock, Logan Mayhle and Liam Shea combined to hold West Greene hitless the rest of the way.
Mayhle got the win for Carmichaels (3-0), while Matthew Barrish and Nathan Broadwater drove in two runs each.
• Avella scored seven runs in the sixth and six in the seventh to rout Mapletown, 14-6, in a non-section game.
Owen English, Dylan Markle and Dalton Simonelli each had a triple for Avella. Dylan Rush, Brian Bogden and Garrett Phillips tripled for Mapletown.
