Pirates, Jays fit to be tied
MONTREAL – Jameson Taillon allowed one run and three hits over three innings as the Pittsburgh Pirates played to a 1-1 tie against the Toronto Blue Jays Friday night at Olympic Stadium.
The game was halted by mutual agreement after 9 innings.
The Pirates and Blue Jays will conclude the spring training schedule with another game today in Montreal.
Toronto starter Marcus Stroman allowed five hits over four scoreless innings.
Toronto took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Darwin Barney led off with a triple to deep right field off Taillon and scored on Kevin Pillar’s groundout.
The Pirates made it 1-1 in the fifth against Toronto reliever Joe Biagini. With two outs, Adam Frazier singled and scored when Adam Frazier tripled to right field. Frazier tried to stretch the hit into an inside-the-park home run but was thrown out.
Frazier, Mercer and Josh Harrison each had two hits for the Pirates.
Wade LeBlanc, Daniel Hudson, Felipe Rivero, Juan Nicasio, Antonio Bastardo and Tyler Webb followed Tallion, each throwing one scoreless inning.
