Rohanna takes 4th in Symetra Tour event
GREENWOOD, S.C. – Rachel Rohanna of Waynesburg had her best week of the season on the Symetra Tour, finishing in fourth place Sunday in the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation Classic at the Links at Stoney Point.
Rohanna was in contention in all four rounds and was tied for the lead early Sunday after starting the day in a tie for second place.
Rohanna finished the tournament at 8-under 280 after shooting a final round 74. She was two shots behind the winner, Celine Boutier of France.
After rounds of 71, 67 and 68, Rohanna had a strong start to the final round. She had birdies on consecutive holes, Nos. 3 and 4, to move into a tie for the lead with Boutier, who closed with a final-round 72.
Rohanna hit her tee shot on the par-4 fifth hole into the left rough and took an unplayable. She still managed to only bogey the hole but it dropped her one shot behind the leader. A bogey on No. 10 and a double-bogey 6 on the No. 11 hole knocked Rohanna out of contention for the champion. She did get one of the strokes back with a birdie on the par-4 No. 14.
The fourth-place finish netted Rohanna $10,955.
Rohanna hopes that the big week will lead to a return to the LPGA Tour.
“To have a year out there and learn all the courses is definitely helpful,” said Rohanna, who spent last year on the LPGA Tour.
