Football playoffs capsule: South Fayette vs. Montour
South Fayette vs. Montour

Records: South Fayette is 11-0, Montour is 8-2.
Class 4A
Winner plays: Either second-seeded Belle Vernon or third-seeded Thomas Jefferson.
What to watch: These two teams are familiar with one another. It was only two weeks ago that they were battling for a Northwest Nine Conference title, which South Fayette won in convincing fashion, 49-21. It was the Lions’ fourth victory on the road against a team with a winning record. It’s difficult to defeat a good team twice in a season; to do it twice in three weeks is even more challenging. To have any chance, the Spartans must stop South Fayette quarterback Drew Saxton, who completed 14 of his 20 passes for 342 yards and four touchdowns. He also had two rushing touchdowns. The 21 points scored by Montour in the regular season finale was its second lowest total of the year. The Spartans also struggled to run the ball on South Fayette, only averaging 3.3 yards per carry, the lowest of the season. The Lions are looking to return to Heinz Field for the fifth time since 2010.
