After jumping out to a 15-point lead midway through the first quarter, Washington & Jefferson survived a comeback and defeated Mount Union 77-74 in the championship game of the Springhill Suites Tip-Off Tournament Saturday at the Henry Memorial Center.

Mount Union, 2-1 overall, quickly overcame that early deficit by outscoring the Presidents 23-13 in the second quarter and take a 43-43 tied score into halftime.

Washington & Jefferson, 2-0 overall, leaned on the veteran leadership of senior Amirah Moore and junior Danielle Parker, a Canon-McMillan graduate.

Moore finished with 23 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Parker had 17 points, grabbed four rebounds and blocked two shots.
