Belle Vernon rolls over Laurel Highlands, remains undefeated
UNIONTOWN – Jared Hartman threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to lead undefeated Belle Vernon to a 35-7 Big Nine Conference win over Laurel Highlands Friday night.
Hartman hit Derek Thomas with a 3-yard pass for the game’s first score. The extra point was blocked, and the Leopards led 6-0.
Laurel Highlands (0-4, 2-4) scored its lone touchdown of the game later in the first quarter, on an 86-yard pass from Connor Bassinger to Jared Duckman to give the Mustangs a 7-6 lead.
With 17 seconds remaining in the first half, Hartman connected with Nolan Labuda for a 26-yard touchdown. Hartman ran in the two-point conversion and Belle Vernon (5-0, 5-0) led 14-7 at halftime.
Hartman ran for a 7-yard touchdown to start the second half, and Derek Cesovski, who ran for 79 yards on eight carries, tacked on another third-quarter score for the Leopards on a 36-yard rush.
Larry Callaway ran 22 yards to cap the scoring.
Labuda, Logan Pfrogner and Jake Fine each intercepted passes for Belle Vernon.
