Townsend, Clutter spark McGuffey’s rout of Southmoreland
CLAYSVILLE – Adam Townsend and Christian Clutter combined for 248 rushing yards and five touchdowns as McGuffey rolled to a 49-16 victory over visiting Southmoreland in the Class 3A Interstate Conference Friday.
Townsend rushed for 126 yards and had TDs of one and 65 yards in the first quarter. Clutter finished with 122 yards and scored on runs of one, 30 and 20 yards. The Highlanders (4-1, 5-2) rushed for 376 yards and led 28-6 at halftime.
McGuffey’s Bryton Johnson caught a 17-yard TD pass from Marshall Whipkey and ran 62 yards for a score.
Jaden Datz completed 24 of 38 passes for 176 yards and 2 TDs for Southmoreland (0-4, 0-6). The Scotties were held to three rushing yards.
