Geneva’s ground game keeps Waynesburg winless

BEAVER FALLS – Trewon Marshall rushed for 170 yards and two first-quarter touchdowns and Geneva used its triple-option offense to run over Waynesburg 35-14 Saturday in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference game.
Geneva (2-1, 3-2) rushed for 367 yards and five touchdowns. The Golden Tornadoes led 14-7 after one quarter, 21-14 at halftime and then outscored Waynesburg 14-0 in the second half.
The loss dropped Waynesburg to 0-4 in the conference and 0-6 overall. The Yellow Jackets have lost 10 in a row dating back to last season.
Waynesburg took a 7-0 lead on a six-yard TD run by Jeremiah Doswell-Hardrick less than six minutes intot he game. Marshall then scored on runs of three and 33 yards, and quarterback Bryan Stafford added a one-yard plunge to give Geneva a 21-7 lead.
The Yellow Jackets closed to within 21-14 on Austin Wilson’s two-yard run late in the first half, but Geneva’s Nick Monteleone scored on an 11-yard run and Collin Kendrick added a 41-yard score, each in the third quarter.
Wilson rushed for 101 yards but Waynesburg quarterback Tyler Perone passed for only 82 yards and was intercepted twice.
