Fort Cherry eliminates J-M from playoff contention

JEFFERSON – Fort Cherry scored one minute into the game and went on to defeat Jefferson-Morgan 48-21 in a Tri-County South Conference contest at Parker Field.
The loss, combined with Monessen’s win over Mapletown, eliminated Jefferson-Morgan (2-5, 3-7) from playoff contention. Fort Cherry (5-2, 7-2) is bound for the playoffs as the conference’s third-place team.
Zach Vincenti scored two rushing touchdowns and caught a scoring pass for FC and Ryhan Culberson threw for three scores and ran for two more. Culberson opened the scoring by connecting with Nick Candelore on an 85-yard TD in the first quarter.
J-M’s Colton Davidson rushed for a four-yard score, caught a nine-yard scoring pass and returned the second-half kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown.
