Boys soccer: PT gets section victory; Chartiers-Houston wins on PK
Bryce Gabelhart scored two goals in the first 15 minutes of the game to propel undefeated Peters Township to a 4-1 win over Bethel Park in Section 2-AAAA.
Kyle McFerran and Anthony Kita tacked on second-half goals in the Section 2-AAAA matchup. Dominic Galietta put BP (0-3, 3-4-1) on the board with a late goal. Derek Deyarmin had 10 saves for Peters (3-0, 6-0-1).
• Spencer Kane’s penalty kick in the first half found the back of the net for the only goal of the match as Chartiers-Houston defeated California 1-0 in Section 4-A.
Kane’s goal came late in the first half and helped Chartiers-Houston improve to 4-1 in section and 5-3 overall. The Bucs have won five in a row. California is 0-5, 1-5.
• Markello Apodiakos scored four goals – two in each half – and Belle Vernon cruised to a 7-0 victory over Trinity at Hiller Field.
Dawson Quinto scored twice and Jackson Guess had a goal that helped the leopards forge a 4-0 halftime lead.
Belle Vernon is 2-1 in Section 3-AAA and 5-1 overall. The Hillers are 1-2, 3-3.
• Mt. Lebanon dealt visiting Canon-McMillan its first loss of the season as the Blue Devils edged the Big Macs 2-1 in overtime.
Jeff Harbaugh’s second goal of the year for C-M tied the score at 1-1 early in the second half.
Canon-McMillan is 2-1 in section and 5-1 overall. Mt. Lebanon is 2-1, 3-4.
• Wyatt Selvoski scored two goals and Bentworth defated host Bishop Canevin 4-1 in Section 4-A.
Levi Jordan and Jason Hillberry also scored goals for Bentworth, which forged a 3-0 lead by halftime.
The Bearcats improved to 4-1 in section and 6-2 overall. Bentworth has won four in a row. Bishop Canevin slipped to 2-3, 2-5.
• Gavin Benson scored three goals to power Waynesburg to a 4-0 victory over Washington in Section 3-AA. Blake Brewer scored the other goal for the Raiders (3-1, 4-3), who have won three in a row.
